Review: Bierfest Tipsy Pie from Sara’s Tipsy Pies

Sara’s Tipsy Pies specialize in alcohol-infused hand pies, both sweet and savory, sold from their prime location inside the Food Building. Unfortunately, for as creative and clever of an idea as they are, the taste has never quite matched up with the ingenuity. Their latest creation, the Bierfest Tipsy Pie, is a step in the right direction, but still seems to be missing the last piece of the puzzle. Sauerkraut and cheddarwurst are infused with Fulton Brewing’s Sweet Child of Vine IPA and glazed with stone-ground mustard. The pie filling is far too heavy on sauerkraut, and that’s coming from a big fan of sauerkraut. The cheddarwurst bits are adequate but nothing special, and the cheddar cheese hunks are on the verge of distressing. The other offerings at this stand, while not perfect, are recommended over this confusing option.
